HOW WILL WE DO THIS? AT SMALL HEATH SIXTH FORM, YOU...

•will follow an academic pathway that is tailored to your needs, consisting of A levels, Level 3 BTECs or a combination of the two*; and further opportunities including an EPQ will provide a clear route into university courses, Apprenticeships or the world of work. (*N.B. We offer you the opportunity to mix A level and BTEC qualifications, something openly welcomed by universities).

•will have a personal tutor who will provide regular academic mentorship, personal support and guidance.

• will have the opportunity to engage in a varied extracurricular programme including the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, day and residential trips, evening activities organised by the social committee, university visits and a commitment to a week of work experience in Year 12, supporting your personal development, academic achievement and UCAS applications.

•will be offered the opportunity to receive academic mentoring by students from local universities as well as attending university master classes and receiving one to one support and guidance when applying for university.

•will be encouraged to support the school family, through opportunities such as becoming a trained mentor to support more vulnerable students or an academic mentor to support GCSE students, taking an active part in the School Council, Charity or Social Committees; or becoming a prefect to set and support high standards and expectations across the school, adding value to not only yourself but also your peers.

•will be provided with an active programme to support personal development and welfare, developing the skills that you need to be happy, successful and able to cope with the demands and challenges of education and the world of work.
