The Interim Executive Board of Small Heath School has approved the choice of Tauheedul Education Trust (TET) to become the sponsor of the school and the school will now begin the process of converting to become an academy and to join TET. You can find out more about TET here http://www.tetrust.org/
TET is a mixed Multi-Academy Trust, running both faith and non-faith schools across the country. The Trust currently runs sixteen schools and all those that have been inspected have been rated “outstanding” by Ofsted. TET schools also enjoy some of best performance results in the DfE school league tables; this year TET’s founding school was the top performing school in the country for progress, whilst its first free school, ranked third. Year upon year Tauheedul pupils secure the lowest absence rates in England. All TET schools share a commitment to a child centred vision and focus on values, educational excellence and service to local communities. TET also supports many more schools and aspiring leaders through school improvement and leadership training via the Tauheedul College for Teaching and Leadership, so it is an excellent choice to support us on our continued journey of improvement. As part of TET’s Community Division, Small Heath School will benefit from a national network of support, resources and opportunities, as we continue to improve educational standards for our students.
As part of the proposal to become an Academy, there is a six-week statutory consultation process in which parents, carers, staff, governors and other stakeholders are able to state their views on the proposal to convert to Academy status.
The consultation period runs from 6 December 2016 to 31 January 2017, and there are a number of ways in which you can contribute.
There will be a series of consultation events at the school on 12 December, where parents, carers and other stakeholders will be able to find out more information, ask questions and express their views.
Parents of Year 7 and 8: 12th December 2016, 5.00-6.00pm, Small Heath School, Upper School, Muntz Street, B10 9RX.
Parents of Year 9, 10 and 11: 12th December 2016, 6.30-7.30pm, Small Heath School, Upper School, Muntz Street, B10 9RX.
Parents of Sixth Form: 12th December 2016, 6.30-7.30pm, Small Heath School, Upper School, Muntz Street, B10 9RX.
We have also prepared a consultation document and accompanying questionnaire, which invites your opinion on the Academy conversion and TET’s sponsorship. You can download the consultation document here.
When the questionnaire is completed, please return it to: Communications Department, Tauheedul Education Trust, Shadsworth Road, Blackburn, BB1 2HT or via email to: email@example.com
Beyond this formal consultation period, we will continue to work closely with parents, carers and the local community and welcome your on-going feedback.
