Placement Dates: 10th - 14th July 2017
You have two ways of finding you work experience.
You can either:
1. Search for your own placement
2. Use the school's spreadsheet of placements
If you want to search for your own place you have until Friday 3rd of February 2017:
Decide what you want to do. You could speak to the Careers Adviser in school on a Wednesday or research your options in the careers library or on the internet. The occupational areas attachment below may also help you out.
The most popular placements usually include pharmacies, garages, local primary schools, shops in the Bullring Centre and local businesses.
Own Placement Forms must be completed and handed in Mrs. Augers Office by FRIDAY 3rd of February 2017.
If you don't find your own placement by Friday 3rd February you will choose your work experience from the school's spreadsheet of placements:
You will make three choices from the spreadsheet in PDC time during March.
There will be over 200 placements on the spreadsheet BUT some places are very popular you might not get your first or even your second choice.
Some popular companies ask students to write to them as early as possible to apply for work experience places. These popular companies include Land Rover, Jaguar, John Lewis, the National Sea Life Centre, Cadburys and the Ackers Trust. If you are interested in any of these companies please see Mrs Auger in school, as soon as possible.
Things to remember:
All places have to be checked for Health & Safety so no placement that you find yourself is guaranteed. All spreadsheet placements have been checked.
For Health & Safety reasons you won't be allowed to work with direct family members or people who work on their own.
If you select from the spreadsheet you might have to travel to anywhere in the city some placements may even be two buses away!!
If you don't want to miss out on your first choice you need to find your own place by Friday 3rd of February so that you don't have to rely on the school spreadsheet.
Don't get stressed about work experience - talk to Mr. Marshall, Mrs. Auger or your form tutor. We're all happy to help.
