Small Heath School

Work Related Learning

Over the last few years, teams of children and students from Small Heath School have:

  • Catered for 350 for Birmingham Airport for the opening of their International Pier and for 120 for the opening of Flight School
  • Catered for 60 for HMS Daring, with which the school has a link. Members of the ship's crew have also worked with pupils in a number of curriculum areas
  • Catered for 25 for Citroen Birmingham
  • Worked with the Gastro Card in the development of an educational programme based on a 'virtual' restaurant
  • 6th Form students re-designed the header for Birmingham Airport's newspaper
  • Acted in a research and advisory capacity for Aston Villa Football Club when the club wanted to improve their Junior Supporter Scheme, now called JV Life
  • Designed and produced cricket themed textile wall hangings for Warwickshire County Cricket Club, for their Indoor Cricket Centre
  • Designed and produced murals for the reception area at Toye, Kenning & Spencer
  • Designed advertising material for a bakeware product for Utensa, which is being sold in TKMaxx
  • Undertaken research for Simple Health & Beauty, who were interested in skincare within the Asian youth market. As a result of this work, the company set up a Junior Board.
  • Provided groups of senior students to act as guides and helpers at events at Birmingham Airport and Warwickshire County Cricket Club
  • Worked with Birmingham Repertory Theatre on pantomime productions
  • Created E-Cards for business partners
  • Organised a Kwik Cricket competition for the West Midlands CBI
  • 6th Form students worked with Utensa to produce a new product catalogue
  • Assisted Birmingham Airport in the development of their education centre, Flight School
  • Assisted Warwickshire County Cricket Club in the development of their Visitor & Education Centre
